I’m not usually one for New Year’s resolutions but I’ve decided it’s time to break from tradition and thus this blog is born. The idea behind it is simply that over the past seasons of yuletide, easter bunny and celebration of birth (this Crimbo was by no means an exception to the rule – see picture!), I’ve accumulated a fair old amount of kitchen utensils/gadgets/cook books/crockery and so it’s time to put them to good use. I’ll be cooking a new (and never before tried) recipe every week/other week (as a student I have a VERY busy schedule, didn’t you know?!) and reporting about the success/failure of said recipes.
These recipes will be selected on the basis of: Ingredient availability (the local tescos has a questionable range). Price; much as I’d like to be awarded a Michelin star I do at some point have to pay back this student debt. Food preferences; Apologies in advance to those who want to hear about mayonnaise/boiled egg/baked bean/tomato ketchup based recipes – it’s not going to happen.
I’m not claiming to be a cook of extraordinary talent (despite the ladies in my family being extremely capable with an oven), however I do enjoy food and that’s what’s important. “It’s not the winning, but the taking part that counts” I hear echoing around the room (…). You never know though, maybe the new Nigella (ahem) will be born, just call me Nigelvia. . .
